In an endevour to make Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) a pollution-free zone, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to run environmentally-friendly hybrid/electric buses, equipped with Wi-Fi facility, on three routes starting December. The buses will be purchased by the MMRDA in order to promote electric transport under National Electric Mobility Mission 2020 for which the Centre has agreed to provide technical and financial backing of Rs 50 crore to the MMRDA.
